The Lira Bikers Association is set to make history by hosting the National Motorcross X Games in Kole District in 2025.
This groundbreaking event promises to elevate the profile of motorsports in the region and attract top riders from across the country.
The announcement was made by Anthony Brian Awira, a prominent motocross rider and Lango representative in the Federation of Uganda Motor Sports Clubs, during a press conference held on Wednesday.
Awira, currently ranked sixth in Uganda, expressed his excitement about bringing this prestigious event to the region.
As a prelude to the 2025 National X Games, the Lira Bikers Association is organizing a national motorcross event on December 22, 2024, in the Lango subregion.
This event will showcase some of the country’s top riders and serve as the official opening of the association’s newly constructed racetrack in Akalo, Kole District.
While the upcoming events mark a significant milestone for motorsports in Northern Uganda, the sport still faces several challenges.
High costs associated with equipment, gear, and track construction often deter aspiring riders.
To address these obstacles, the Lira Bikers Association is encouraging enthusiasts to register for the upcoming events and participate in training programs to develop their skills.
Mandela Nelson, the chairperson of the Lira Bikers Association, emphasized the importance of community support in fostering the growth of motorsports in the region.
He called on the local community to rally behind their bikers and contribute to the success of the National Motorcross X Games.
