In preparation for the anticipated Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier between Uganda and South Africa, scheduled for Friday, November 15, at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, Uganda Police, FUFA, and Namboole Management held a high-level meeting on Wednesday to address crowd management and safety protocols.
The discussions were led by the Uganda Police Director of Operations, AIGP Mwesigwa Frank, who met with FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo, along with representatives from the stadium’s management.
Following the meeting, AIGP Mwesigwa tweeted about the collaboration, emphasizing the comprehensive security plans aimed at safeguarding fans, officials, and players throughout the match event.
“I held a meeting with the President of FUFA, Eng. Magogo Moses, on our plans to secure the fans, officials, and players during the qualifier for the African Cup of Nations match between Uganda and South Africa on 15/11/24 at Namboole National Stadium,” he stated.
The discussion included a detailed review of the responsibilities of match organizers across all stages of the event—before, during, and after the game—and the importance of close coordination to ensure a safe and controlled environment.
This coordination is particularly vital, as the match is expected to draw a large crowd given the high stakes for both Uganda and South Africa in their AFCON qualifying campaigns.
Authorities are urging fans to follow entry guidelines and arrive early at the stadium, as extensive security measures will be in place to maintain an orderly environment.
