Vipers will be aiming to climb to the summit of the Uganda Premier League when they take on URA today at the Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.
The Venoms currently sit third on the table with 17 points, just one behind KCCA and two behind leaders NEC, who defeated the former 1-0 yesterday.
A win for Vipers would propel the six-time league champions to 20 points, claiming top spot of the league standings.
They come into the fixture in impressive form, unbeaten in their last seven matches since their 3-1 opening-day loss to NEC.
This run includes four victories and a draw under coach John Ayala Luyinda, who replaced Nikola Kavazovic in October.
The head-to-head record also favours the Venoms, who have not lost to URA in their last five encounters, winning four and drawing one.
Additionally, they remain unbeaten in their previous three league visits to the Tax Collectors.
Coach John Ayala will look to his key attacking trio of Allan Okello, Milton Karisa, and Yunus Sentamu to deliver the goals.
Okello, fresh from helping Uganda secure qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, is expected to lead the charge for the visitors alongside Karisa’s pace and Sentamu’s clinical finishing.
URA, meanwhile, have endured an inconsistent season, managing three wins, three losses, and two draws.
They currently sit 10th on the table with 11 points, six adrift of their visitors.
However, the Tax Collectors will be buoyed by their last home result, a 2-0 win over Kitara, which was their first victory since coming to Nakivubo.
Star striker Ivan Ahimbisibwe, who has scored five goals so far this season, will be central to URA’s hopes.
Ahimbisibwe, who netted a hat-trick against Mbale Heroes last month, will be supported by the likes of Shariph Kimbowa and Moses Aliro in attack.
Since 2013, the two sides have faced off 22 times in league action, with URA winning seven, Vipers claiming eight victories, and five matches ending in draws.
However, the Tax Collectors will need to overturn a poor recent record against the Venoms, who have dominated this fixture in recent years.
Kickoff will be at 7:00 pm under the Nakivubo floodlights.
