The Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom (BKK) MTN Enganda Football Tournament and Bicycle Races continued to electrify Hoima District on Friday, December 6th, with the Abeeri Clan securing their place in the second round of the football competition.
The Abeeri Clan navigated a challenging group stage, finishing with four points alongside the Abagabu Clan. However, a superior goal difference, thanks to their 4-1 victory over Abasiita, propelled them to the next round.
“We are thrilled to advance and are now focused on bringing the trophy back to Hoima,” declared Abeeri midfielder Isaac Isingoma. “We are coming to Hoima City with one goal in mind: victory.”
Abagabu coach Alfred Kwikiriza acknowledged the close competition, stating, “We played well, but unfortunately, goal difference determined our fate.”
Beyond the football pitch, the MTN-sponsored bicycle races captivated the attention of hundreds of spectators. Martin Kemigisa emerged victorious in the men’s category, securing the top prize of UGX 500,000.
“It was a tough race,” Kemigisa shared. “But thanks to God, I came out on top. I’m now eagerly awaiting the finals in Hoima next year.”
In the women’s category, Jennifer Kusemererwa claimed first place, also earning UGX 500,000.
The Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom MTN-sponsored events continue to foster a sense of unity and cultural pride within the region.
