In an effort to prioritize mental well-being, KCCA Football Club on Wednesday December 11 hosted a team of officials from Butabika National Referral Mental Hospital at MTN Omondi Stadium.
The initiative, spearheaded by the hospital’s Ag. Deputy Executive Director, Dr. Brian Mutamba, aimed to raise awareness about mental health within the football club.
The day commenced with an insightful Mental Health Talk Session, where experts from Butabika Hospital addressed the KCCA players and staff.
The session covered crucial topics related to mental health, including stress management, coping mechanisms, and the importance of seeking professional help.
Following the informative session, a friendly football match was held between the KCCA Staff Team and the Butabika Hospital Team. This engaging activity fostered camaraderie and understanding between the two teams while promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.
This collaborative effort between KCCA FC and Butabika Hospital marks the beginning of a long-term partnership focused on mental health awareness.
The club has already taken proactive steps to prioritize the mental well-being of its players and staff earlier this season by organizing a visit to Butabika Hospital, where the players had the opportunity to interact with patients and gain a deeper understanding of mental health challenges.
Moses Magero, KCCA’s PRO, emphasized the significance of this partnership.
“We believe that by raising awareness and promoting open discussions about mental health, we can empower our players to perform at their best both on and off the field,” he said.
