Melvin Lorenzen, a Ugandan-German striker, has been officially announced by Muangthong United as a loan signing from BG Pathum United for the second leg of the 2024–25 season. The Thai club aims to enhance its attacking options, and Lorenzen’s signing is expected to bring valuable experience and versatility.
The 30-year-old forward has showcased his talents across various leagues and positions throughout his career. Renowned for his adaptability, Lorenzen is equally effective as a striker and in supporting offensive roles.
Born in London to a Ugandan father, Drake Mugisha, and a German mother, Lorenzen made his debut for the Uganda national team on 31 May 2016, in a friendly match against Zimbabwe, which ended in a 2–0 defeat.
His impressive career portfolio includes playing for Carpathie Lviv in Ukraine, Werder Bremen in Germany, and Den Haag in the Netherlands.
During the first leg of the 2024–25 season, Lorenzen demonstrated his abilities with BG Pathum United, where he made 13 appearances, scoring two goals and providing one assist. Despite limited opportunities, his impactful performances caught the attention of Muangthong United.
