Uganda Cranes midfielder Steven Sserwadda has signed a two-year MLS NEXT Pro contract with New York Red Bulls II, extending his tenure with the club through the 2026 season, pending visa and registration approval.
Fellow countryman and New York Red Bulls II Head Coach Ibrahim Sekagya expressed his excitement about the player’s return, stating, “Steven is a hardworking midfielder who will be valuable in our system and will bring great experience to the team.”
The Kampala-born midfielder has made four senior appearances for the Uganda Cranes, totaling 210 minutes of international play.
He made his debut on March 25, 2022, against Tajikistan and previously represented Uganda at the U-20 and U-23 levels.
Notably, he played a pivotal role in the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, where Uganda finished as runners-up, with Sserwadda scoring two goals during the tournament.
At the club level, Sserwadda joined New York Red Bulls II in 2021 and has since featured in 41 matches, contributing four goals and two assists.
He debuted in Major League Soccer (MLS) on June 30, 2022, for the New York Red Bulls in a match against Atlanta United FC.
Prior to his move to the United States, Sserwadda played for KCCA in the Ugandan Premier League.
