Rapper Navio, renowned for his hit track Bad Man from Kamwokya featuring Bobi Wine, has revealed his willingness to participate in a Corporate Boxing match, joining a growing list of celebrities stepping into the ring under the Uganda Boxing Federation’s initiative.
Corporate Boxing, introduced as part of efforts to promote the sport in Uganda, has gained traction since its inception.
The event has already hosted high-profile matches, including Shakib vs. Kazoora in its debut, an all-female bout between Fauziah Nakiboneka and Laura Nadgire in the second edition, and most recently, Rickman vs. Grenade—a pair with a history of physical altercations.
Uganda Boxing Federation President Moses Muhangi has been vocal in encouraging celebrities to embrace Corporate Boxing as a constructive outlet for disputes and a platform to elevate the sport.
Notably, Muhangi has called on musicians Pallaso and Alien Skin to resolve their differences in the ring rather than in street fights.
Navio, speaking to NBS Sport, said he is open to taking on any opponent in the Corporate Boxing arena.
However, he emphasized the importance of fair play, particularly in weight categorization.
“The weight has to be right so that no one has an advantage over the other,” Navio stated.
When asked about potential opponents, including fellow musicians like Zex Bilangilangi or Pallaso, Navio said he had no preferences as long as they fall within the same weight category.
“I’m game,” he affirmed. “I’m willing to go to the ring against anyone who is interested.”
The next edition of Corporate Boxing is expected to take place during the 2025 season of the Boxing Champions League, scheduled to return mid-year.
