Lugazi Football Club announced the signing of 19-year-old attacking midfielder Lumumba Norman Eluzai from South Sudan on a three-year contract.
Eluzai becomes the first foreign player to sign for the Ugandan club, also known as the “Leaders.”
Eluzai is considered one of the most promising young midfielders in the CECAFA region, known for his ability to orchestrate play from the middle of the park and effectively operate on either wing.
He has already impressed at the international level, having played a key role in South Sudan’s U-20 national team’s run to the quarter-finals of the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in 2023.
He was also part of the South Sudanese junior team at the 13th All Africa Games held in Ghana last year.
Eluzai expressed his excitement about joining Lugazi FC, stating that it’s a “fresh start” for him to prove his abilities and adapt to a new environment.
He said he was particularly drawn to the team’s playing style, believing it will provide him with an opportunity to develop further in a competitive environment.
He added that he sees Lugazi as a platform to challenge himself and gain exposure, but emphasizes the importance of hard work, understanding the coach’s requirements, building relationships with teammates, and staying patient.
