The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has taken a step towards what they say ensures a transparent electoral process for its 2025 polls by launching a comprehensive civic education program for Electoral Officers.
These officers, pivotal to the electoral process, will assist the FUFA Electoral Committee from the grassroots level to the national stage.
The preparations officially commenced on February 28, 2025, with the FUFA Electoral Committee’s inaugural meeting.
During this session, key resolutions were passed, including the rigorous selection and vetting process for appointing Electoral Officers.
Chairman Mathias Bwiire emphasized the importance of empowering the officers through targeted training.
“By equipping the Electoral Officers, we are laying the foundation for free and fair elections,” he stated.
Training sessions, set to run from March 12 to March 14 across regional associations, will cover critical topics such as voter registration, candidate nominations, and the polling process.
As per FUFA statutes, the eagerly anticipated elections are scheduled for July 2025. With this proactive approach, FUFA aims to set a benchmark for electoral integrity in sports governance.
