The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) on Wednesday officially announced the commencement of the electoral process for the District Football Associations (DFAs).
This marks the beginning of the journey to elect new leaders who will manage the affairs of the DFAs and represent them in the 8 Regional Football Associations for the period spanning 2025 to 2029.
The FUFA Electoral Committee released the detailed timeline and procedures for the DFA elections, which are scheduled to take place on April 6, 2025.
This announcement follows earlier preparations, including the appointment and training of Electoral Officers who will support the committee in ensuring a smooth and transparent process.
Key stages of the electoral process include:
- Display of Register of Club Officials: The FUFA Electoral Committee has made the register of all Club officials available on the official FUFA website. Eligible individuals have until March 24, 2025, to verify their details and make any necessary updates.
- Nomination of Candidates: Aspiring candidates can download nomination forms from the FUFA website between March 25 and March 28, 2025. Completed forms must be submitted by March 30, 2025.
- Verification of Candidate Qualifications: The FUFA Electoral Committee will meticulously review the qualifications of all candidates to ensure they meet the stipulated eligibility criteria.
The FUFA Electoral Committee has emphasized its commitment to conducting free and fair elections, in accordance with the FUFA Statutes, Electoral Code, and Electoral Guidelines, all of which are accessible on the FUFA website.
This election is a crucial step in the governance of football at the grassroots level in Uganda, and the outcome will shape the leadership and direction of the DFAs for the next four years.
It is important to note that this announcement pertains to the DFA elections and is a separate process from any potential elections for the presidency of FUFA itself.
The FUFA Electoral Committee has encouraged all eligible individuals and clubs to actively participate in this process to ensure a robust and representative leadership for the District Football Associations.
