The Uganda Cranes are putting the final touches in ahead of their must-win 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Guinea, set to take place tomorrow at Mandela National Stadium in Kampala.
Following a disappointing 3-1 loss to Mozambique, the team has been working intensively to rectify their mistakes and regain confidence before the home fixture.
Head coach Paul Put expressed optimism about the team’s readiness during his pre-match press conference, highlighting the players’ determination in training.
“The response from the team has been fantastic. After the Mozambique game, I thought it would take time to rebuild their confidence, but they have shown great character,” Put said.
“We are at home, and that gives us an extra boost. The players understand the importance of this match, and we are prepared to give everything on the pitch,” he added.
The squad has focused on defensive organization, set-piece defending, and attacking efficiency—key areas that proved costly in their last outing.
With the return of their home crowd at Namboole, the Cranes will be banking on a strong atmosphere to push them forward.
Guinea, who have shown solid form in their campaign, will pose a significant challenge, but Uganda will be determined to turn their fortunes around and reignite their World Cup qualification hopes. Kickoff is set for 7 PM.
