Callum Hudson-Odoi, the 24-year-old winger for Nottingham Forest, is rediscovering his form and ambition as he aims to return to the England national team.
Once hailed as one of England’s brightest prospects, Hudson-Odoi has overcome significant setbacks, including a ruptured Achilles tendon in 2019, to become a key player for Forest this season.
Hudson-Odoi’s performances have been instrumental in Forest’s push for Champions League qualification, with five goals and two assists to his name.
His resurgence has sparked speculation about a potential call-up to Thomas Tuchel’s England squad, though he narrowly missed out on the latest selection.
Reflecting on his journey, Hudson-Odoi acknowledged the challenges he faced, including “tough love” from Tuchel during their time at Chelsea.
Despite their differences, he praised Tuchel’s ability to bring out the best in players and expressed his readiness to prove himself again on the international stage.
Hudson-Odoi’s determination to return to his peak form is evident in his mindset. “I don’t want to prove anything to anybody,” he said. “It is about proving to myself that I can still be that player I was.”
As Forest prepares for an FA Cup quarter-final clash against Brighton, Hudson-Odoi remains focused on contributing to his team’s success under manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
