Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put has expressed his deep gratitude to the fans following Uganda’s 1-0 victory over Guinea in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers at Mandela National Stadium.
In an open letter, Put credited the passionate home support for pushing the team to deliver a spirited performance.
“Namboole was at it again! A win for Uganda,” Put wrote. “I’m deeply grateful for your unwavering support during the game. Your energy fueled our convincing win, marked by exceptional football, commitment, and engagement.”
The victory, secured by Allan Okello’s first-half free kick, was a crucial step in Uganda’s World Cup qualification journey, lifting the Cranes to third place in Group G with nine points.
With the pressure mounting in the qualifiers, the coach emphasized that the fans’ presence played a key role in keeping the team motivated.
“We couldn’t have done it without you! Your enthusiasm pushed us to give our best,” he added.
Put’s message also hinted at the significance of Uganda’s next home fixture, set for September, where the Cranes will aim to maintain their momentum.
