Pep Guardiola has announced his intention to take a break from football management when his Manchester City contract expires in June 2027.
Speaking to ESPN, the 54-year-old, who has led City to unprecedented success including six Premier League titles and a Champions League, stated, “After my contract with City, I’m going to stop. I’m sure. I don’t know if I’m going to retire, but I’m going to take a break.”
Guardiola’s current 11-year spell at City is his longest coaching stint.
Reflecting on a challenging season where City sit fourth and trail Liverpool by a significant margin, he called it a period of “great learning.”
While acknowledging the desire for a lasting legacy, Guardiola offered a grounded perspective on how coaches are remembered.
His future beyond the break remains uncertain, though he previously hinted at potentially managing a national team.
