Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, a lifelong player for the club, has confirmed he will leave at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old England right-back, whose contract expires on June 30th, is widely expected to join Real Madrid.
“After 20 years at Liverpool Football Club, now is the time for me to confirm that I will be leaving,” he announced, calling it his “hardest decision ever.”
A key figure in Liverpool’s recent successes, including two Premier League titles and the 2019 Champions League, Alexander-Arnold has made 352 appearances since his 2016 debut.
While Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk recently renewed their contracts, the Liverpool-born defender seeks a “new challenge.”
Liverpool expressed their “gratitude and appreciation” for his contributions.
