Arsenal icon Arsene Wenger believes the current rule granting Europa League winners Champions League qualification should be “reviewed.”
His comments come as Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur near the Europa League final.
Wenger told beIN Sports that Europa League winners should qualify for the Europa League again, not necessarily the Champions League, especially with some leagues already having numerous Champions League spots.
He acknowledged the incentive it provides but questioned the fairness, particularly for teams underperforming domestically.
His remarks are timely, with Man Utd (15th) and Tottenham (16th) struggling in the Premier League despite holding significant leads in their Europa League semi-finals against Athletic Club and Bodo/Glimt, respectively.
