Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou believes winning the Europa League final against Manchester United on May 21st could be a “turning point” for the club, aiming to shift external perception and internal belief after years without silverware.
Despite both clubs’ underwhelming league form, Postecoglou emphasized the significance of ending Spurs’ trophy drought since 2008 and securing their first European title since 1984.
He acknowledged the narrative of Spurs faltering on the big stage compared to United’s final successes, stating that victory in Bilbao is crucial to overcome this hurdle and change the club’s historical backdrop.
Referencing the club’s past glories, Postecoglou hopes his current squad can emulate the achievements of the 1984 UEFA Cup winners. He also provided a positive update on captain Son Heung-min’s fitness ahead of the final.
