St Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende produced a commanding performance to dispatch arch-rivals Kibuli SS 3-0 and book a place in the semi-finals of the 2025 USSSA Boys’ Football Championship.
The two traditional giants came into this highly anticipated quarter-final clash with 24 titles between them; 12 each, raising the stakes at Ngora High School grounds.
But it was Kitende who showed superiority, dominating proceedings from start to finish.
Claude Wakenge opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a calm conversion from the penalty spot, giving the Wakiso zone side a deserved early lead.
The first half ended 1-0, but Kitende never took their foot off the pedal.
In the 55th minute, Dennis Kisiriko doubled the advantage with a composed finish inside the box, capitalising on a defensive lapse from the Kibuli backline.
The result was all but sealed midway through the second half when Arafaat Nkoola rose highest to nod in the third goal in the 69th minute, putting the result beyond doubt.
The win underlined Kitende’s title credentials, having already knocked out another fancied side, Blessed Sacrament Kimanya, with a similar 3-0 scoreline in the Round of 16.
That performance featured goals from Farouk Tumwesigye, Ashiraf, and Santos Agok, and served as a warning to their competitors.
Meanwhile, Kibuli SS, who scraped past Masaka SS via a tense 5-3 penalty shootout after a goalless draw in the previous round, had no answer to Kitende’s clinical display.
Under coach Emuron Recoba, Kibuli lacked the sharpness and organisation required to trouble a well-drilled Kitende side coached by Hassan Zzungu.
