Buddo Secondary School has advanced to the final of the 2025 USSSA Boys’ Football Championship following a tense penalty shootout victory over Bukedea Comprehensive School on Tuesday morning at Ngora High School playgrounds.
In a tightly contested semifinal that kicked off at around 9 am, neither side managed to find the back of the net in regulation time, forcing the match into penalties.
Buddo SS, led by head coach Richard Malinga, held their nerve to win 5-4 in the shootout, sealing their spot in Wednesday’s final.
Buddo’s return to the final adds to the school’s storied legacy in the competition, having previously won the championship twice; in 2009 and 2018.
Bukedea Comprehensive, under the guidance of Ronald Ssali, had made a strong run to the semis, including an 8-7 penalty shootout win over Kyadondo SS in the quarters after a 1-1 draw in regular time.
However, their journey was halted by Buddo’s clinical finishing from the spot.
Buddo now awaits the outcome of the second semifinal between twelve-time champions St. Mary’s Kitende and Jinja Progressive Academy (JIPRA).
