Nottingham Forest have strongly denied reports of owner Evangelos Marinakis confronting manager Nuno Espirito Santo after their 2-2 draw with Leicester.
The club stated Marinakis went onto the pitch due to deep concern for striker Taiwo Awoniyi, who required urgent surgery for an abdominal injury sustained late in the game.
Forest explained that Marinakis’ emotional reaction stemmed from seeing Awoniyi visibly struggling after a collision, despite being cleared to play on.
The club insisted there was “no confrontation” and that Marinakis’ actions reflected his “deep care” for his players.
Forest also criticized pundits for rushing to judgment without full context, urging them to avoid spreading “fake news online.”
The club emphasized that the shared frustration was directed at the medical team’s decision to allow Awoniyi to continue playing.
