The 2025 Absa Captain’s Bell Tournament has entered its final stages, with 14 top professional golfers locked in a tight race for the prestigious title following a gripping series of opening rounds at the Entebbe Club.
Leading the leaderboard heading into the final rounds is Tom Jingo, who has impressed with back-to-back rounds of 66 and 70 to post a tournament-best score of 136 (-8).
Jingo’s consistency has given him a three-stroke cushion as he eyes the trophy in the decisive round.
Close behind are Phillip Kasozi and David Kamulindwa, both tied at 139 (-5). The duo maintained steady form with identical -2 rounds.
Veteran golfer Deo Akope is in fourth position with 141 (-3), while Abbey Bagalana and Grace Kasango are tied for fifth at 143 (-1). With just seven strokes separating the top six players, the final stretch promises a dramatic conclusion.
One of the standout stories of the tournament is Marvin Kibirige, who battled his way through the cut with a total score of 148 (+4).
While not at the top of the pack, Kibirige’s resolve remains firm.
“I am glad I made it to the cut. My putting wasn’t okay but it’s something I am looking forward to working on tomorrow,” said Kibirige, reflecting on his performance and eyeing improvement.
The tournament, sponsored by Absa Bank Uganda with a UGX 179 million package including a UGX 20 million professional cash prize, has showcased elite golfing talent and high-stakes competition.
As the curtain draws near, all eyes will be on Jingo to see if he can hold his nerve, or if Kasozi, Kamulindwa, and the rest of the chasing pack can overturn the lead and claim the 2025 title.
