St Noa Girls Secondary School sealed their second USSSA National Girls Football Championship title in spectacular fashion after edging Amus College School in a tense penalty shootout.
The 2025 final, held amidst high anticipation, ended 1-1 in regulation time before St Noa triumphed 5-3 in spot-kicks.
This victory marked sweet revenge for St Noa, who had fallen 1-0 to Amus in the 2023 final.
Determined not to suffer the same fate twice, St Noa, fresh off their final finish at the Africa Schools Championship in Ghana, displayed grit and composure under pressure, battling back from an early setback to eventually emerge champions.
Amus took the early lead through Sylvia Kabene, who cut through the St Noa defense with a composed solo effort to give her side a 1-0 cushion.
But St Noa refused to buckle, creating several chances that were thwarted by Amus’ brilliant goalkeeper Angella Adeke, who pulled off two vital saves to keep her team ahead at halftime.
In the second half, Amus briefly looked in control until St Noa’s Eunice Nabwoba netted a crucial equalizer to level proceedings.
With the deadlock holding firm through full time, the match went into penalties where St Noa held their nerve.
After both sides converted their first three penalties, St Noa scored their fourth while Amus faltered. The final kick from St Noa sealed the championship and sparked scenes of jubilation.
This title adds to St Noa’s maiden win in 2022, reaffirming their rising stature in Ugandan school football.
They will now represent Uganda at the 2025 FEASSSA Games alongside Amus, Boni Consilii, and Kawempe Muslim, who finished third after beating Kawempe on penalties.
