Erling Haaland has called Manchester City’s season “horrific” despite reaching a third straight FA Cup final and being close to Champions League qualification.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Haaland said the team “haven’t done good enough” after missing out on a fifth consecutive Premier League title.
“In a horrific season, we still managed to do this,” Haaland stated, looking ahead to their FA Cup final against Crystal Palace.
He emphasized that not winning the league after four consecutive titles signifies an unsuccessful season based on their high standards.
City are currently fourth in the league, two points above Chelsea in the Champions League qualification race.
Haaland admitted the team “haven’t been stable enough” and that individual performances haven’t been up to par, even accounting for injuries.
The Norwegian striker, who scored 21 league goals despite a recent injury, expressed his frustration at being sidelined but is now “really happy to be back” with “loads of energy” for the final push.
