Max Verstappen (Red Bull) claimed a dominant victory at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, passing pole-sitter Oscar Piastri (McLaren) at the first chicane and controlling the race.
Late safety cars closed the gap, but Verstappen held off Piastri and Lando Norris (McLaren).
Norris eventually overtook his teammate for second.
Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari), starting 12th, finished fourth thanks to strategy and safety car luck, passing teammate Charles Leclerc.
McLaren will review strategy after pitting Piastri early. Piastri admitted to “wrong calls” and a first-lap error.
The safety cars led to intense battles, including Norris’s late pass on Piastri for second.
Verstappen’s win reduces Piastri’s championship lead over Norris to 13 points, with Verstappen now nine points behind Norris.
