Emma Raducanu powered into the Strasbourg second round, thrashing former world No. 8 Daria Kasatkina 6-1, 6-3.
Opting for matches over rest before the French Open, the Brit displayed impressive clay-court improvement against an out-of-form Kasatkina, who switched nationality to Australia earlier this year.
“I’m really proud of my performance,” said Raducanu, who had lost all previous encounters with Kasatkina. “As I spend more time on clay, I’m starting to like it more and more.”
Raducanu will next face 2024 French Open finalist Danielle Collins.
In Geneva, Jacob Fearnley also progressed, while Cam Norrie’s match was halted by rain.
