Vipers will face arch-rivals KCCA in the 2025 Stanbic Uganda Cup final, but the StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions will be without one of their key players.
Reliable center-back Hillary Mukundane will miss the final, set to be played at the newly constructed Kadiba Stadium on May 31, due to suspension after accumulating yellow cards.
Mukundane, alongside Karim Watambala and Marvin Youngman, entered the second leg of the semifinal against Kitara walking a disciplinary tightrope.
While Watambala and Youngman managed to avoid bookings, Mukundane wasn’t as fortunate.
He received a yellow card in Butema during the return leg against Kitara, ruling him out of what is arguably the biggest fixture in Ugandan football.
His absence will force head coach John Ayala Luyinda into a reshuffle at the back, with Livingstone Mulondo and Rogers Torach now expected to partner at the heart of Vipers’ defense.
With a domestic double on the line, the Venoms will hope the defensive duo can rise to the occasion in the absence of their dependable defender.
