Professional boxer Georgia O’Connor, a decorated amateur and undefeated pro, has died at 25 after a battle with cancer.
The Durham native had previously fought ulcerative colitis.
O’Connor won gold at the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games and was 3-0 as a pro with promoter Boxxer.
Boxxer expressed heartbreak, calling her “a true warrior inside and outside the ring.”
Tributes have poured in from fellow fighters and England Boxing, which praised her as a “gifted boxer and beloved member of the amateur boxing community.”
Just two weeks ago, O’Connor announced her marriage and new surname, Cardinali.
