Real Madrid captain Luka Modric has announced his departure from the club following their Club World Cup campaign this summer.
The 39-year-old midfielder, a 2018 Ballon d’Or winner, will play his final home La Liga match this Saturday against Real Sociedad.
“The moment has arrived. The moment I never wanted to come,” Modric shared on Instagram.
Since joining in 2012, Modric has won 28 trophies with Real Madrid, including six Champions League titles.
He expressed immense pride in being part of “one of the most successful eras of the best club in history.” His contract expires this summer.
