Novak Djokovic is on the verge of a remarkable milestone, moving one win away from his 100th ATP Tour-level singles title after defeating Britain’s Cameron Norrie 6-4, 6-7 (6-8), 6-1 in the Geneva Open semi-finals.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion, who turned 38 on Thursday, aims to become just the third man in the Open era, after Jimmy Connors and Roger Federer, to achieve 100 ATP titles.
His 99th came with Olympic gold last summer.
Djokovic will face Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz in Saturday’s final.
“It was the toughest match of the tournament for me so far,” Djokovic said, “I’m really glad how I regrouped in the third… Let’s go for a title.”
This strong performance provides a vital confidence boost for Djokovic as he prepares for the French Open, where he will seek a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title.
