Lando Norris has secured pole position for the Monaco Grand Prix, snatching it from local favourite Charles Leclerc on his final qualifying lap.
The McLaren driver’s record-breaking effort put him just 0.109 seconds ahead of Leclerc’s Ferrari.
McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri took third, ahead of Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton. Championship leader Max Verstappen struggled, only managing fifth for Red Bull.
Norris’s pole marks a significant return to form for the Briton, his first since the season opener. Leclerc expressed disappointment, citing traffic that hampered his final run.
Hamilton is under investigation for impeding Verstappen earlier in the session.
The Monaco Grand Prix is set for Sunday with a mandatory two-stop strategy adding an extra layer of intrigue to the race.
