Kylian Mbappe has secured his first European Golden Shoe, recognizing him as Europe’s top league goalscorer, in his debut season with Real Madrid.
He clinched the award by scoring twice in Real Madrid’s 2-0 win over Real Sociedad, bringing his La Liga goal tally to 31.
Mbappe’s 62 points in the weighted system put him ahead of Sporting’s Victor Gyokeres (58.5 points) and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah (58 points).
Despite Gyokeres scoring more goals (39), his league’s lower coefficient meant his goals were worth fewer points.
Mbappe is just the third Real Madrid player to win the prestigious award, following Hugo Sanchez and Cristiano Ronaldo.
