St Noa Girls FC have cemented their growing legacy in Ugandan women’s football by winning the 2024/25 FUFA Women Elite League title, edging Asubo Ladies 1-0 in the final held on Sunday, May 25, at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso.
The only goal of the match came from forward Slivia Kabene, who capitalised on a defensive lapse between Asubo Ladies’ goalkeeper Olga Lukia Bitiru and a teammate.
A miscommunication in the box saw the ball awkwardly spill between the two, and Kabene reacted quickest, poking home what would ultimately be the title-deciding strike.
The result capped off a dominant campaign for St Noa, who topped the Elizabeth Group with an unbeaten run, collecting 32 points and conceding just once in the process.
Their final opponents, Asubo Ladies, led the Victoria Group with 29 points and were also impressive en route to the decider.
Although both teams had already secured promotion to the 2025/26 Finance Trust Women Super League, the final offered an opportunity for silverware and bragging rights.
For St Noa, the win also marked a major milestone, as it is their first-ever promotion to top-flight football, achieved under the guidance of coach Jimmy Kintu Mwera.
Asubo Ladies, coached by Ibrahim Kibumba, return to the Super League just a year after suffering relegation.
St Noa’s dominance throughout the season was reflected in the post-match individual awards.
Match-winner Silvia Kabene was named Most Valuable Player of the Season, while her teammate and shot-stopper Lillian Nakirya walked away with the Goalkeeper of the Season accolade.
This triumph adds to an already remarkable year for St. Noa Girls FC and their affiliate institution, St. Noa Girls Secondary School.
Earlier this month, the school team clinched the 2025 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) girls’ football title, defeating Amus College on penalties.
That win came on the back of a silver medal finish at the 2025 CAF Africa Schools Football Championship in Ghana, where they fell 2-0 to the hosts in the final.
In February, the school also claimed the 2025 Elite Secondary Schools Games crown, dethroning regional powerhouse Kawempe Muslim in another impressive display.
