The Sand Cranes have confirmed a full squad in camp ahead of the inaugural CECAFA Beach Soccer Championship, set for June 6–11 in Mombasa, Kenya.
Brian Nkuubi, Kigozi Ambrose (both forwards from Kampala City BSC), and goalkeeper Ronald Mutebi were the final players to join the team, which is training at Bamboo Gardens Beach Soccer Arena in Kampala.
The 20-man squad entered residential camp on Monday under co-head coaches Arch Rica Byaruhanga and Akabwai Geofrey, with support from assistant coach Baker Lukooya.
The technical team is implementing a new tactical approach dubbed “The Ugandan Way,” focused on energy, flair, and control.
“The camp is full, the players are fit, and there are no injuries,” said Byaruhanga. “We’ve had a smooth integration between young players and seniors, which was our key goal.”
The coaches praised new faces Kuol Micheal, Niwesasira Sison, and Edweu Godfrey, all recruited from secondary school competitions, for adapting quickly to the senior level.
Defenders Lule Paul and Niyonzima Benon are the only absentees from the squad.
Uganda is aiming for a strong showing in Mombasa as they seek to set a new standard in regional beach soccer.
