FUFA Programs and Project Manager Sumaya Hood Kiwanuka has revealed that the 51st Stanbic Uganda Cup Final will act as a key test event for the newly constructed FUFA Kadiba Stadium, which is nearing completion under FIFA’s Forward Programme.
Speaking ahead of the highly anticipated final on Saturday 31st May, Sumaya confirmed that the facility is about 90% complete, with the remaining work focused on essential post-construction procedures.
“The remaining 10% involves post-construction processes that are critical before a stadium is fully operational,” she explained.
“This includes testing the pitch, assessing the facility’s functionality, checking accessibility, and ensuring everything meets safety and operational standards.”
She underscored the importance of the Uganda Cup Final in evaluating the stadium’s readiness.
“We’re using this final to evaluate all aspects of the stadium. It’s part of our broader process of finalizing and fine-tuning the facility,” she said.
Sumaya added that FUFA will take advantage of the months of June and July to address any issues identified during the test.
“By August, we expect the stadium to be 100% ready, fully prepared to support CHAN 2025 and other major tournaments,” she stated.
