Vipers co-coach Fred Muhumuza has underlined the team’s focus and determination ahead of Saturday’s Stanbic Uganda Cup Final against KCCA, stressing that his players are fully aware of what is at stake.
“This is not just another game,” Muhumuza said. “It’s the last match of the season and a final—we’re putting in everything we’ve got to make sure we finish on a high.”
Coming off a successful Uganda Premier League campaign, Vipers are aiming to secure a domestic double.
Muhumuza made it clear that the Uganda Cup holds significant value for the club and its supporters, and that the team is treating the final with the seriousness it deserves.
“We know what this competition means in Ugandan football. We’re not taking anything for granted,” he said. “We’ll come out strong and give it our all on Saturday.”
With the fixture set to take place at the newly constructed FUFA Stadium, Kadiba, Muhumuza said the technical team is carefully managing player fatigue to ensure peak performance.
“We’re managing the boys’ fatigue levels, but they’re responding very well,” he explained. “We understand how important this trophy is—not just for the club, but for our fans too.”
He also acknowledged the challenge posed by their long-time rivals, KCCA, warning against complacency despite their opponents’ struggles in the league.
“We’re aware they’ve had a difficult league season, but finals are different,” Muhumuza noted. “We expect a tough fight.”
Saturday’s final promises to be a high-stakes affair as two of Uganda’s most decorated clubs clash in a historic match that will mark the first major event at the Kadiba Stadium.
