Real Madrid have completed the signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool, with the defender set to join the Spanish club on June 1st.
Liverpool accepted an early release fee, reported to be around 10 million euros (£8.4 million), allowing the 26-year-old to play in the upcoming Club World Cup.
Alexander-Arnold, who had confirmed his departure from Liverpool this summer, has agreed to a six-year deal with Real Madrid, including a 1 billion euro (£840 million) buy-out clause.
The move marks the end of his long association with Liverpool, where he won numerous titles, including the Premier League and Champions League.
The England international cited a desire for a “new challenge” and will join fellow England teammate Jude Bellingham and new Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso in Madrid.
Real Madrid’s Club World Cup campaign begins on June 18th against Al-Hilal in Miami.
