Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) celebrated their historic first Champions League title with an open-top bus parade in Paris today, mere hours after widespread unrest and violence marred celebrations across France.
Following their 5-0 victory over Inter Milan on Saturday, overnight clashes resulted in two deaths, nearly 200 injuries, and hundreds of arrests in Paris alone.
Despite the serious incidents, authorities proceeded with the parade, which drew a large crowd under a heavy police presence. PSG players also met with President Emmanuel Macron.
PSG condemned the violence, stating such “isolated acts” do not represent their supporters. The club’s victory makes them the 24th team to win the Champions League.
