Victoria Crocs head coach Serunyigo Rogers says the team is determined to reach the National Basketball League (NBL) playoffs after a strong start to their debut season.
Speaking after their commanding 67–37 win over JT Jaguars BBC in the second round at YMCA Wandegeya, Serunyigo emphasized that the Crocs are in the league to compete — not just to participate.
“As debutants in the league, people expected us to over struggle but we performed well,” Serunyigo said. “Our goal is finishing in the top eight and making our way into the quarter-finals.”
The latest victory follows a 64–57 result over the same opposition in the first round, underlining the Crocs’ consistency and growing confidence. The team finished sixth at the halfway mark of the season, a performance that has caught the attention of both fans and opponents.
Team captain Cyrus Wobusobozi also addressed the scepticism they faced at the start of the season.
“We were underlooked by the older, established teams when we had just joined the league, and they didn’t expect anything good from us,” he said.
Their recent performances have earned praise from rival players, including JKL’s Alinaitwe Harold Junior. “Their togetherness is impressive,” he said. “They play like a team that has been in the league for years.”
