Nile Special has pledged unwavering support for Uganda’s Rugby Cranes as the team prepares to host and compete in the 2025 Rugby Africa Cup.
The tournament, set for July 8–20 at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, also serves as a qualifier for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia.
Speaking at the official presser held at Next Media Park on Monday, Nile Breweries Managing Director Adu Rando emphasized the brand’s deep-rooted passion for the sport and its national impact.
“At Nile Special, we are not just sponsors, we are believers,” Rando stated. “Rugby mirrors the grit and pride of Ugandans. We’re behind the Rugby Cranes all the way, as they chase history.”
Nile Special joins Uganda Rugby Union (URU), MTN MoMo, NBS Sport and RockBoom as partners for the Rugby Africa Cup.
Rando said the brand would enhance the tournament atmosphere with activations, entertainment, and cultural showcases under the theme: “Guts. Grit. Gold. Reach for Gold.”
Uganda will open their campaign with a quarterfinal match against regional rivals Kenya, aiming for a direct slot at the 2027 World Cup or a second opportunity via the repechage, both to be contested on home turf.
