World number 361 Lois Boisson has pulled off the biggest upset of the French Open 2025, stunning third seed Jessica Pegula to reach the quarter-finals.
The French wildcard, making her Grand Slam main draw debut after a year-long recovery from an ACL tear, triumphed 3-6 6-4 6-4.
Boisson’s emotional victory on Court Philippe Chatrier marks an incredible comeback story.
“I gave my all and in the end I won, which is just incredible,” she said, serenaded by chants from the crowd.
Her journey back from injury, symbolized by a “resilience” tattoo, has culminated in her becoming the lowest-ranked player to reach a major quarter-final since 2017.
Boisson will now face sixth seed Mirra Andreeva for a spot in the semi-finals, continuing her dream run at Roland Garros.
