Brentford have secured goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher from Liverpool for an initial £12.5 million, potentially rising to £18 million.
Kelleher replaces Mark Flekken, who has joined Bayer Leverkusen for around £8 million.
The 26-year-old Kelleher, who signed a five-year deal with Brentford, expressed his desire to be a “number one and to play every week” after winning multiple trophies with Liverpool.
Liverpool are set to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili to compete with Alisson.
Brentford’s Director of Football, Phil Giles, praised Kelleher’s character and long-term scouting, stating he was an immediate consideration when Flekken opted for a move closer to home and the prospect of Champions League football under new Leverkusen boss Erik ten Hag.
Flekken, 31, made 77 appearances for the Bees and departs after a successful spell.
Leverkusen Sporting Director Simon Rolfes lauded Flekken as “one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League over the past two years.”
