KCCA Board Chairman Pledges Major Rebuild After Trophyless Season

KCCA Board Chairman Eng. Sserunjoogi Andrew Mukiibi has assured fans and stakeholders that the club is already working on a major rebuild aimed at restoring the club’s competitive edge following another underwhelming campaign.

In an official statement released days after KCCA fell 2-0 to Vipers in the Stanbic Uganda Cup final and finished fifth in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League for the second consecutive season, Mukiibi expressed deep appreciation to fans, sponsors, and all club partners for their continued support.

“Your passion, unity, and incredible turnout were truly humbling,” Mukiibi said in reference to the fan-led #KadibaIsYellow campaign that saw hundreds of KCCA supporters turn Kadiba Stadium into a sea of yellow ahead of last weekend’s final.

Despite the loss, the Board Chairman reiterated the club’s understanding of the fans’ frustrations, noting that the trophy drought — now stretching to six years — is one the entire institution is committed to ending.

“We hear you. We feel your frustrations and we share them. But please rest assured, we are already hard at work addressing the challenges we faced,” Mukiibi said.

The statement comes at a critical moment for the Kasasiro Boys, with the club facing uncertainty on multiple fronts.

The future of interim coach Jackson Magera remains unresolved, several key players are approaching the end of their contracts, and growing pressure is mounting on the management to retain the club’s top talents like Joel Sserunjogi, Usama Arafat, and Ettiene Katenga, all of whom have attracted interest from rival clubs.

While no specific changes were outlined in the statement, the Chairman’s pledge to “build a stronger, more competitive team” signals potential off-season activity both in the technical area and on the transfer front.

“We look forward to your continued support as we take on the next chapter together,” Mukiibi concluded in the statement.

As the post-season dust settles, all eyes will now be on how KCCA acts on its promise to rebuild and return to the summit of Ugandan football.
