Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed he will not play in this month’s Club World Cup, turning down offers from participating teams.
The 40-year-old Portugal captain is out of contract with Saudi club Al-Nassr at the end of June.
Despite earlier speculation of a move after an enigmatic social media post, sources tell BBC Sport Al-Nassr is confident of extending his deal.
Ronaldo, who has scored 99 goals in 111 appearances for Al-Nassr since joining in 2023, stated a decision on his future is “almost final.”
He made the announcement ahead of Portugal’s Nations League final against Spain on Sunday.
