Mauricio Pochettino, current US national team coach, has dismissed speculation of an immediate return to Tottenham Hotspur, calling it “not realistic.”
His comments follow Ange Postecoglou’s sacking as Spurs manager, despite leading the club to Europa League glory.
Pochettino, 53, who managed Spurs until 2019, emphasized his happiness in his current role, stating, “Today it’s not realistic. Look where I am. Look where we are. The answer is so clear.”
He added that his name frequently appears in rumours, but he is content with his work managing the US team, who are preparing to co-host the 2026 World Cup.
During his previous five-year tenure, Pochettino guided Tottenham to the 2019 Champions League final and a second-place Premier League finish in 2017.
With Pochettino out of the immediate running, Brentford’s Thomas Frank and Fulham’s Marco Silva are among the leading contenders for the Tottenham job.
In other club news, veteran defender Ben Davies has extended his contract with Spurs until summer 2026.
