Nottingham Forest has formally asked UEFA to clarify Crystal Palace’s Europa League qualification, citing concerns over multi-club ownership rules.
Palace secured a European spot by winning the FA Cup, but American businessman John Textor’s significant stake in both Palace and Lyon, who also qualified for the Europa League, is causing a potential conflict.
UEFA rules prohibit one entity from holding majority voting rights in two clubs competing in the same European tournament.
If a ruling goes against Palace, Lyon would get priority, potentially elevating Nottingham Forest – who finished seventh in the Premier League – into the Europa League.
Forest, who previously adjusted their own ownership structure to comply with UEFA rules, have raised their reservations.
Palace maintains their FA Cup win was achieved independently, denying any operational ties with Lyon.
UEFA and Palace have declined to comment on the ongoing situation, with qualification rounds looming in July.
