American Olympic bronze medalist and world record holder Frederick Richard is in Uganda for a one-week tour, featuring a series of charity activities and culminating in a national gymnastics showcase on June 14, 2025, in Tororo District.
His visit follows a recent world record achievement—completing 1,111 standing backflips in 24 hours—as part of a campaign to raise $100,000 in support of gymnastics development in Uganda.
Through his foundation, FrederickFlips, Richard is partnering with the Gymnastics Association of Uganda to help establish the country’s first national gymnastics facility.
Richard says he was inspired by Uganda’s raw talent and passion for the sport, particularly after watching viral videos of young athletes from groups like Clon Circus Uganda.
Now, he hopes to help bring greater attention and investment to the country’s budding gymnastics scene.
During his stay, Richard will visit local schools and gymnastics clubs, lead workshops for young athletes, and headline a national showcase expected to draw gymnasts and fans from across the country.
