Former Real Madrid and Wales star Gareth Bale is reportedly part of a US-based consortium in early talks to take over League One club Plymouth Argyle.
The move would see Bale join a growing trend of high-profile athletes investing in football clubs, following in the footsteps of former teammate Luka Modric at Swansea and NFL great Tom Brady at Birmingham City.
Plymouth, recently relegated to the third tier, has undergone managerial changes with Tom Cleverley appointed on June 13.
While discussions are at an early stage, it’s unclear what role, if any, Bale would have if the takeover is successful.
