The NCBA Golf Series made a thunderous start at Uganda Golf Club over the weekend, and one name stood tall at the end of it all—Gabriel Amani Beau.
With a blistering 47 points, he walked away as the Overall Winner of the opening leg of the 2025 NCBA Golf Series, setting the pace for what promises to be a thrilling tournament across Uganda.
It was a sunny Saturday packed with swings, surprises, and serious talent on display. Beau’s standout performance didn’t just earn him bragging rights; it also secured him a golden ticket to the Grand Finale in Nairobi, where he’ll battle East Africa’s best later this year.
Among the crowd of contenders, Godwill Bindeeva stood out as the Men’s Overall Winner with 45 points, while Judith Komugisha kept the ladies’ flag flying high with a strong 44-point finish to claim the Ladies’ Overall title.
The depth of talent didn’t stop there. Group winners across both the men’s and ladies’ categories showed up ready to compete:
Men’s Group Winners
- Paul Ndyaguma (Group A): 41 points
- Francis Tumwine (Group B): 44 points
- Charles Kagombe (Group C): 40 points
Ladies’ Group Winners
- Peace Kabasweka (Group A): 38 points
- Edrae Kagombe (Group B): 42 points
- Justina Icabala (Group C): 34 points
Kabasweka wasn’t done. She also crushed it with the longest drive in the ladies’ category, proving she’s a force to watch throughout the series.
Among special category winners, the spotlight also shone on junior golfer Lucas Kimara, who scored 43 points and showed that the next generation is ready to tee off with the big names. Guest player Allan Muhumuza matched Kimara’s score with 43, while NCBA’s own Henry Mukiibi made his mark with 39 points as the top-performing staff golfer.
Golfers also competed in the “Nearest to the Pin” challenge, with Gloria Mbaguta and Jaimie Byaruhanga showcasing pinpoint accuracy. Peter Tumusiime joined the power club with the longest men’s drive of the day.
And then there was the beloved wildcard—the Piga Mingi award—going to Julius Konyani with 16 points, reminding everyone that golf is as humbling as it is rewarding.
The Yellow Ball Challenge, a crowd favorite, was clinched by a sharp quartet: Joseph Cwinyai, Anthony Gacheru, Brian Katimbo (who posted a stellar 44 points), and Raymond Mwesigye.
With this explosive start, the 2025 NCBA Golf Series is already living up to its promise of excitement, flair, and fierce competition.
All eyes now turn to the next leg in Jinja, where more golfers will chase their shot at glory, leaderboard points, and those much-coveted tickets to the Grand Finale in Nairobi.
