“I Train in Boxing” – Abdallah Mubiru’s Surprise Revelation

Abdallah Mubiru has long been known as a football man. From his playing days at KCCA —where he won the Uganda Premier League in 1994 and 1997—to his stints with the Uganda Cranes as both a player and coach, his name has always been tied to the sport.

But over the weekend, during the Uganda Boxing Champions League, Mubiru made a surprising revelation: his passion for sports goes beyond football. He shared that he has long been involved in boxing.

Mubiru revealed that he previously trained with both the Police Boxing Club and KCCA Boxing Club. Now unattached after parting ways with KCCA in April 2025, he continues to train at home with a personal boxing coach.

He praised the Uganda Boxing Champions League for its warm, family-friendly atmosphere and applauded the organizers for keeping the environment clean and free from vulgar language.

The weekend event also featured Week Four of the league and delivered plenty of action.

Mawanda Depark finally earned a sweet revenge win over Tumusiime Nerrick, who had beaten him three times before. In another thrilling matchup, Amoko Innocent came out on top against Kaddu Julious.

Held every two weeks, the Uganda Boxing Champions League is fast becoming a fan favorite for its fierce competition and growing support.
